Antartic Enviroments and Climate Change

Collaboration with the University of Wroclaw strengthened. Gonçalo Vieira has participated in an Erasmus exchange from 22-26 May at Wroclaw (Poland) where he teached on the dynamics of the Antarctic permafrost environment and the significance of the Late Pleistocene glaciation in the mountains of western Iberia. This short stay also allowed for developing contacts in order to
promote future collaborative research in Svalbard and the Antarctic. A field trip of two days with Piotr Migon to the Karkonozse Massif (see the picture below) allowed to compare geomorphic features of this mountain with the plateau of serra da Estrela, an area where Gonçalo and Piotr have been collaborating since a few years.
